Holding A Teleseminar To Promote Your Business - What You Need To Know To Have Your Own Teleseminar

Posted on March 18, 2008

Today I held my first teleseminar! The people on the call didn’t know if was my first one, or at least I hope they didn’t. But somebody had to be first, so I hope they felt honored if they knew. I had done two practice teleseminars before, but they didn’t count because I had no clue what to talk about on those calls. Today was different. I had an out and an agenda, and I invited about thirty people to listen to my teleseminar and six of them showed up. There is a replay line on the web site so I am hoping that many others will listen when it is convenient for them.

This was quite a learning experience for me. I am a participant on several calls each week and wanted to finally jump in and share my knowledge with others. These are some of the things that I learned:

  • If you have a mentor and they tell you they will be on the call if you let them know when it is – don’t count on it. They are very busy and will usually not show up. So just remember from the beginning that it is your call and take responsibility for whatever happens.
  • Make an outline for yourself so that you will have an organized way to present your information to those you are talking to. It is best to prepare too much than to find you have run out of things to talk about before you run out of the time you have allotted for the call.
  • Prepare a Study Guide for your listeners. Convert it to PDF format and let them know in advance where they can download the file. Be sure to give them room to take notes and to include links to any affiliate programs that you are promoting.
  • Keep some water close by and make sure that others at your house know that you will be on a call. It is best if you don’t have to think about anything else during the course of the call.

Follow up with your listeners after the call is over. Let them know where they can listen to the replay and give them an idea of any important items you discussed during your call. Also, plan the next call as soon as you hang up from the first one. I will keep you posted, but I believe this is a learnable skill and will only improve each time you practice.
