Know Your Kids - From Elementary To Middle School

For most – if not all kids –the change from elementary to middle school is a big deal. To begin with, transitioning students go from being “top dogs” at their elementary schools to the “babies” of the middle school.

And then comes the homework… I had no idea I was going to get so much homework or how I was going to get it all done. I imagined the endless nights that I would have to spend slaving over a piece of paper with pencil in hand while my parents ate pizza and watched my favorite TV show, Myth Busters, without me.

Turn on the light. Unlock the door. Here are the amazing secrets that can no longer be kept in the dark!

So how do books become best sellers?

Usually hyped out of this world by the publisher, if he thinks he has a good seller on his hands. But we’re not talking publishers. We are going to talk about you. I have seen books which were amazing and sold zilch. Why not? No hype.

From here we are assuming you have written a book. A “How To” type book which you fully researched before you even wrote it because we all know, don’t we? You check out the potential market first!

Learn To Position Yourself As An Info-marketer Instead Of A Writer

I once heard the title of this discourse from Mark Victor Hansen. He made this statement in one of his MegaSpeaking Empire Conferences in Los Angeles. Mark said, “don’t position yourself as an author; position yourself as an information marketer.” This statement is not original with Mark, though. Robert Kiyosaki of Rich Dad, Poor Dad fame made a similar statement years ago. Robert said that the only secular job he held was with Xerox just to learn sales and marketing.

The exposition, explanation and expansion of the idea below is entirely mine.

Pitching My Book

After we’d finished publishing my memoir, Henry’ Daughter, Linda Radke at Five Star Publications, Inc. told me I needed to help promote it—she calls it “pitching it”. I told her I would try but inwardly I had a lot of misgivings. Selling isn’t my thing. I couldn’t picture myself going around saying, “I wrote a good book and I want you to buy it.”

On the other hand, I spent a lot of time and effort on this thing. Because I’m 87 years old, I’ve had the time to experience all kinds of excitement. In fact, almost anything you mention, I’ve been there, done that.

Of course, people look at me curiously, okay strangely, but what do I care? I am a comedian, a performer, and a wacky broad at times, and people always look at me in strange ways (just as long as they do not touch me or hurt me!)

If you’re trying to interest a publisher in your nonfiction book, you know that it takes a lot of effort, skill and creativity to stand out from the crowd. Publishers receive thousands of proposals each year and publish only a handful. It’s essential that yours catch their attention immediately. Follow these steps to write a proposal that will get noticed by publishers:

1. Title and Subtitle: Check out the books on the current bestseller lists. Most of them have unusual – sometimes outrageous – titles. Think of a title that’s really going to capture the imagination. And make sure your subtitle accurately summarizes what’s in the book.

A Movie Trailer For Your Book

For authors and publishers, competing in the modern marketplace is a challenge, to say the least. The creative and industrious human mind is generating thousands of products everyday, and for any particular work to rise up above the masses, a clever approach to online advertising is a must. While the Internet has leveled the playing field for many self-publishers, only the savviest of players are generating any profits.
